Enroll Your ChildWhat Your Kid Will Train Each Week
Three days. Three different focuses. Each class builds on the last to give your child a complete martial arts foundation.
Monday: Pure Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
5:00 – 6:00 PMFoundational Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu built specifically for kids. Your child learns positions, escapes, sweeps, and submissions through age-appropriate drilling. This is real grappling — the same techniques taught to our adult students, scaled to kids' bodies and attention spans. Kids learn how to control positions on the ground, escape when someone controls them, and think through problems on the mat. Pure BJJ builds calm under pressure, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills that carry off the mat into school and daily life. No striking. Full contact is drilled progressively as the child develops confidence and control.
Tuesday: MMA Grappling
5:00 – 6:00 PMBrazilian Jiu-Jitsu combined with wrestling fundamentals. Your child learns takedowns, top control, bottom escapes, and how grappling actually looks when it's not just gi-based. This class bridges pure BJJ with the broader skill set of mixed martial arts. Wrestling introduces balance, aggression, and physicality in a controlled environment. Kids learn how to level change, secure takedowns, and defend against them — skills that translate to competition wrestling, BJJ tournaments, and eventually MMA if they choose to pursue it. Age-appropriate contact levels. Emphasis on technique, not toughness for its own sake.
Thursday: MMA Fundamentals
5:00 – 6:00 PMIntroduction to full mixed martial arts. Your child learns striking mechanics — punches, kicks, footwork, defense — combined with the grappling skills built on Monday and Tuesday. This is where everything comes together. Kids learn how to move in a fight, how to transition between striking and grappling, and how to protect themselves in any situation. Striking is taught with strict contact limits and heavy focus on defense and control. Ideal for kids who want the complete skill set. Builds coordination, confidence, and the ability to read what's happening in a full-range martial arts encounter.
What Kids Learn Beyond the Techniques
Discipline that shows up at home — kids who train martial arts consistently develop better focus, self-regulation, and follow-through on tasks. Respect — for coaches, training partners, teachers, and parents. Confidence that isn't loud — real confidence built through real skill, not empty praise. Conflict avoidance — kids who know how to handle themselves rarely need to prove it. Coach oversight throughout — every class has coaching eyes on every kid, every rep. Small class sizes ensure your child gets individual attention, not group babysitting.
This is the change most parents notice within the first 30–60 days.
Who the Kids Program Is For
Kids who are curious about martial arts and want to try something structured and real
Kids who need discipline and focus — this program builds it through action, not lectures
Kids who've been picked on or feel small — grappling teaches control without needing to be the biggest kid in the room
Kids who love competition — Wildside supports competition-track training for kids who want to test themselves
Age recommendations and readiness are assessed at the first class. Contact us with your child's age and we'll let you know if it's the right fit.
Kids Program FAQ
What age is the Kids Program for?
Ages are assessed at the first class. Generally kids as young as 5 can start with age-appropriate drilling, and the program scales up through pre-teens. Contact us with your child's age and we'll confirm the fit before the first class.
What does my child need to bring to their first class?
Just comfortable athletic clothing and a water bottle. No gi or equipment needed for the first session — we provide what's needed and let you know what to purchase once your child is enrolled.
Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu safe for kids?
Yes — grappling is one of the safest full-contact martial arts because there's no head impact. Kids drill techniques progressively and only engage in live rolling once they've built the fundamentals. Coach supervision is constant.
Can my child do all three classes or just one?
All three classes are included with the $100/month membership. Kids who attend all three days progress faster because they see how BJJ, wrestling, and MMA fundamentals connect. Attending one or two days a week is also fine — consistency matters more than intensity.
